UWE Graduate Wins 2012 Mullany Prize for Excellence

The Mullany Prize for Excellence in physiotherapy has been won by student Claire Stables from the University of the West of England.

Each year, the Mullany Fund awards two £1000 prizes, one to an outstanding student of physiotherapy at UWE, and the other to a medical student at Swansea University’s School of Medicine.

The awards aim to recognise, promote and reward exceptional student commitment. Claire was nominated by her tutors in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. Shan Aquilar-Stone who is a senior lecturer in Physiotherapy at UWE said “Claire is an exceptional young woman, who has achieved very high academic and clinical marks during the course of her studies. Apart from her engagement with the learning aspects of the programme she has made a positive contribution to the physiotherapy programme and represented the student voice in a thoughtful and professional manner in both formal and informal settings.”

A charity spokesperson said, “We are delighted that Claire Stables has won this award and wish her the very best for a long and successful career in Physiotherapy.”
